The Sudanese police force, in terms of origins and evolution, was affected by social, economic and political factors, while the disappearance of the historical development sequence of this force makes it as if it suddenly appeared with no roots of it, as the experience of maintaining security in the Turkish - Egyptian Covenant had produced a security apparatus totally different in form and substance from that held by the State of Mahdya. This study sheds light on the history of police in Sudan in the period between 1898 and 1956. The researcher speaks about the beginning of the first attempts towards the creation of a device to maintain the order in Sudan, where he refers to the role of Bloomberg in the organization of the police force, the role of John Ewart in developing it and the emergence of the Police College during the period between 1899 to 1927. Then he moves on to talk about the law of the police in 1928, which includes a statement of objectives, duties and responsibility of the police force, along with the recruitment, appointment and swearing in, the era and police uniform, salaries and bonuses, crimes, violations and penalties, the organization and functioning of the police force, housing police, and the placement of the police during the military operations of the military law. Then deals with the police force in Sudan between centralization and decentralization, and the police strike in 1951, along with the political situation prior to the announcement of the strike. In conclusion, he reviews the police force prior to independence, referring to the breadth of the functions of the police in the era of independence to include: a traditional, managerial and essential function concerned with maintaining security, judicial function means to execute orders of the referees and judges, and social function related to the public. Then it deals with the Sudanese police force between centralization and decentralization, and a strike by police in 1951, where the political situation prior to the announcement of the strike. In conclusion, review the police force prior to independence. Referring to the breadth of the functions of the police in the era of independence to include: a management function concerned with traditional and essential to maintain security, and judicial function means to execute orders of the referees and judges, and social function related to the public.
