Management of Research Programs in the Arab Countries

Abstract

The importance of scientific research in steering and planning social and criminal policies seems undeniable. The recent years witnessed significant progress in social and criminal fields in many Arab countries. This book presents a number of essays revolves around the axis of management of research programs in the Arab countries, it begins by discussing the development of research awareness in the Arab community, where the book explains the obstacles facing social researches, the targets of research awareness, social research awareness methods. The book also addresses the role of social research in the development planning, referring to: the in-depth research, social surveys, researches of needs measurement, researches of services priorities measurement, researches of evaluation and follow up. The book then moves to discuss the objectives of research in the field of society protection such as achieving the greatest possible amount of information and upgrading such information. The book also discusses the topic of scientific researches coordination between Arab countries, and shows the importance of such coordination and its objectives, lack of coordination problems, means of coordination which most importantly is the establishment of a national coordination office in each Arab country and a coordination office for all Arab countries, and the assignment of specialized technical committees in areas related to social research (sociology). In conclusion, the book addresses the following topics: social research and development plans in Tunisia, the National Center for Social and Criminological Research in Iraq, the planning of field researches on the problems of contemporary youth, and the role of scientific researches in the application and implementation of the national development process.
