Crimes Related to the Use of Edged Weapons Among Juvenile Delinquents: A Field Study on the Juvenile Delinquents Under Therapy in Observation Houses at the Saudi Kingdom By: Dr. Ghada A. Al-Tarif A criminal behaviour is a form of deviant and delinquent behaviour. This reflects dominantly among the teenagers. It is rampant in the contemporary world. Newspapers provide ample coverage on the events related to the violent offences committed by the youngsters. The rate of such crimes is incessant. It is growing both in intensity and flagrance. Among such crimes, the use of edged weapons is most distinctive type of crime. Statistical criminal record shows, with intense regret, that it has entered as a dangerous phenomenon in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its potential criminals are juvenile delinquents. Its appearance in Saudi society portends perilous consequences. A compassionate Saudi reader becomes both thrilled and apprehensive. The present study provides an overview example. It is, in fact, a field study. It was applied on a sample of juvenile delinquents currently under therapy at the Observation Houses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This study is guided by certain specific objectives. It seeks to identify the steady growth of this crime and the distinctive characteristics of juvenile delinquents using edged weapons. Also, it sheds light on the variant typology of crimes committed through the use of edged weapons. Further, it unfolds the rationalizations cited in self-defense the use of edged weapons. Finally, it provides an idealized and adequate solution to stem the continuity of such crimes. In conducting the present research, the author has employed analytic-descriptive methodology. Pursuant to it, she has also used social survey approach. As part of this discussion, main issues social, economic and demographic were expounded. Pertinent explanatory theories were incorporated as well. The study, in its closing passages, provides its findings. The latter suggests the emergent trends social and psychological in Saudi society. Also, the study has offered some recommendations. These recommendations stress the pertinent need of general policy planning in the domain of security.
